Handicraft artists from Tehran showcase works at Muscat Nights festival
TEHRAN - Handicraft artists from Tehran province have taken part in the Muscat Nights 2026 festival in Oman to present Iranian traditional arts and help expand cultural exchanges, provincial officials said.
The artists showcased a range of traditional handicrafts at the month-long cultural festival, which is being held from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31.
Saeed Shahrokhi, deputy head of handicrafts for Tehran province, said the participation aimed to introduce Iran’s artistic capacities and strengthen international cultural ties.
The official said the Iranian pavilion displayed works including pateh embroidery, traditional jewelry and wooden sculptures, which attracted interest from visitors and cultural professionals.
Shahrokhi said Iran’s ambassador to Oman and the mayor of Muscat visited the Iranian booth, adding that such visits help promote Iranian handicrafts and support cultural diplomacy.
He described participation in international exhibitions as an opportunity to develop export markets, facilitate cultural exchange and support Iranian artisans.
Muscat Nights 2026 is being held across several locations in Muscat Governorate, including Al Qurum Natural Park, Al Amerat Public Park, the Oman Automobile Association, the Royal Opera House Muscat, A’Seeb Beach, the Wilayat of Quriyat and Wadi Al Khoud.
According to organizers, the festival includes cultural, artistic, entertainment and economic programs, featuring family-oriented attractions, daily parades, amusement rides, and performances by local and international artists, alongside cultural and musical events.
